Meet the team: Scott Denman

It seems that every time we ask someone what they love about CnC we get a different answer. This is what’s great about the program. The program itself does not seek to conform anyone to a singular response. That’s what I love about it. At CnC’s foundation is an affirmation that God is at work in everyone in a variety of ways and this program gives traction to that truth. If you do not lift your voice, no one else can fill the vacancy.

And we need to hear every voice. This is a passion of mine which has led me first into the ministry through a circuitous journey through various denominations, Baptist, Congregational and finally Episcopal, as well as through an eclectic set of educational institutions including Harvard, Gordon-Conwell and finally the Episcopal Divinity School. The desire to embrace my voice and affirm a diversity of voices in the process led me ultimately into community organizing. I am currently the chair of an inter-faith regional community organizing effort called Genesis which, much like the CnC program, invites congregants to discover their authentic voice as well as join that voice in unison with a diverse group of people who share similar values and find ways to bring those values into the world in a relevant way. The call to work together for a higher good, and for justice, excites me to no end.
