What's in your library

I was thinking of writing a blog entry on this, but then realized I wanted to hear more from other people than I wanted to suggest things myself. Here's the question:

What books have been really helpful to you in your ministry?

They may be books that relate strongly to ministry or books that are simply important to you. I've thought about this as I ran across a couple of books that have been important to me that were packed away for a while.

Here are a few books I recommend. What's on your list?

The Craft of Christian Teaching: Essentials for Becoming a VERY GOOD Teacher by Israel Galindo. I need to re-read this! I liked this book because it was so practical and down-to-earth. And because there was something for everyone, whether you're a novice or highly experienced.

The Sacredness of Questioning Everything by David Dark. This book helped me know on a very deep level that questions are faithful.

Peace is Every Step by Thich Nhat Hanh. This book is why I take a breath and turn AWAY from the computer screen when I pick up the phone. Lots of practical, simple, and meaningful spiritual exercises.

Choosing Church by Carol E. Lytch. Why do some youth stay in church and others leave? A well-researched and interesting study with surprising (to me) results. The upshot? Kids whose parents--both parents--go to church are more likely to stay in church. What this taught me is how important it was to make church worthwhile for adults. There's lots more in the book, so don't let my summary statement stop you from reading it!

Your turn!
